Yesterday a Deluge, Today Summer Again
Yesterday really was a deluge. Phuket seemed almost ready to float away, with Patong particularly badly hit. Here at the hotel, the rain came down so heavily that the palm trees blurred behind it. My photograph reveals something else, though: a few people stayed in the pool even then. Wet is wet, after all.

A day for work and books
For me, it became an intensive working day. And honestly, I could use one. There is plenty to do, even while travelling. When the heavens open outside, it is at least easier to stay focused on work.
My Anneliese sat beside me and read all day. I worked, she read, and outside it rained. We each had something to occupy us, and we were still together.
Then, in the evening, there was a wonderful concert at the hotel. A terrific band – a lovely way to end such a rainy day. So we did manage to put the work and books aside after all.
Today: work, lightly
And today? As though someone had wiped it all away. Blue sky, sunshine, heat. People in the pool, and here at the hotel everything is already dry again. It is hard to believe this is the same place as yesterday. That is how different the weather here can look from one day to the next.

So today will be a light working day. I will still get a few things done, but then I want to go for a swim, walk along the beach and enjoy the day. Perhaps we will head into town later, too. We will leave that open.
Yesterday there was time for work. Today the sunshine can have some of my time as well.
