On 22 September, Anneliese and I leave Kirchberg and head for Osaka via Munich. A fairly thorough way of stepping away from the familiar routine for a while. Japan begins with two seats next to each other and many hours on a plane. The motorcycles will have to wait. First, we practise sitting patiently — a discipline with at least no tight bends.
At 76, I am setting off to discover Japan. This time with Anneliese. Before the motorcycle tour, we have planned a few days in Osaka: time to arrive properly and take in our first impressions.
On 23 September, we reach Osaka. Our journey starts here, before we collect the bikes. These first days belong to the city.
