19 October 2026 · Kanazawa · Morning diary

Monday morning in Kanazawa. For the first time in a month, the sky is a little overcast. It does nothing to dampen our anticipation.
After a good night at the Hyatt Centric, we feel properly rested again. A beautiful design hotel: warm wood tones, large windows, colourful art and thoughtful details throughout. The breakfast setting is lovely, too—a pleasant start to a long day of exploring.
We set off at 7:50 a.m. A nine-hour tour awaits, with visits to World Heritage sites. Today, someone else will do the driving while we look forward to discovering another side of Japan.
Well rested, well fed—and ready to go.
